Zambia is a land-locked country in Southern Africa. Ranked 177 out of 182 countries on the UN’s Human Development Index, it has a very high HIV prevalence rate (15.2%).
It is divided into 9 provinces each administered by an appointed deputy minister and each one is subdivided into 4 to 12 districts. Western Province, where Alan Kerins Projects works, is the poorest and least served province in the country and is divided into 6 districts; Mongu, Kaoma, Senanga, Lukulu, Kalabo and Sesheke. We work primarily in Kaoma and Mongu.
