Education Centre & Guesthouse

The new Education Centre will generate income for the Cheshire Home in Mongu, enabling it to become more self-sustainable. The Centre is to be used by local groups for training, workshops and by international groups as their base for immersion and cross-cultural projects. A Guesthouse will also be constructed to accommodate the groups and will  generate additional income.  Managing and running the centre and guesthouse will provide additional local employment.

The Cheshire Home in Mongu caters for up to 80 disabled children at any given time. It is the only home for physically disabled children in an area that is 4 times the size of Ireland.

This project is part-funded by: Cork Friends of Zambia, a group of volunteers who support Alan Kerins Projects on an ongoing basis. In Oct 2010, the group will travel to Zambia to work with the local construction team on the 2 buildings.
